Advance Statement

Whilst an Advance Decision is very specific, an Advance Statement is more general and can be used to allow a person (from the age of 16) to state in advance their wishes relating to more general aspects of their care, should they find themselves unable to communicate this or lose Capacity to decide for themselves in the future.

For example, specifying food preferences or religious and other beliefs. Unlike Advance Decisions, Advance Statements are not legally binding.
