Establishing Ordinary Residence (Reablement)

If you have not already done so you must confirm a person's ordinary residence status before beginning any reablement planning process.

Reablement cannot be provided to anyone who is not:

  1. Ordinarily resident in the area; or
  2. Present in the area but with no settled residence.

Click here to see the ordinary residence procedures, which include how to seek reimbursement for urgent needs met and any supporting documentation.

After accessing the available information in these procedures you should speak to your line manager if you are unclear about:

  1. The ordinary residence status of the person; or
  2. Whether to commence Care and Support planning based upon ordinary residence status.
